Colección Mi Chiquita
En DIQUIS Costa Rica creemos que cada recuerdo debe llevar consigo una historia auténtica, y nuestra muñeca “Mi Chiquita” es un reflejo vivo de ello.
Esta pieza nace de un profundo amor por las tradiciones de mi familia y el compromiso con el medio ambiente . Está elaborada con retazos de tela que nos dan las costureras locales y otros materiales que ya tuvieron un propósito previo, a los que damos una nueva vida. Todo se utiliza por pequeño que parezca; es aprovechado con conciencia y creatividad.
Cada muñeca es pintada pr mi hermana Fe Virginia, pintora autodidacta que mas bien es un don lo que tiene y terminada a mano por las Hermanas Ríos: Cesilia, Nieves y Kathia, quienes heredaron de su familia el amor por la costura, la pintura y el arte hecho a mano. Cada “Mi Chiquita” es única o en cantidades limitadas y estan impregnada de sensibilidad, memoria y dedicación.
Pero lo más valioso de esta muñeca es que rescata una tradición centenaria familiar. Su origen se remonta a nuestra abuelita Julita Morales, quien confeccionaba muñecas de tela para sus hijas con las telas que tenía en casa para mis tías y mi mama quien hoy a sus 93 años nos cuenta con emoción cómo su mamá pasaba noches enteras cosiendo en silencio, mientras todos dormían, para que cada Navidad hubiera una muñeca nueva para cada una de ellas, mi mama me cuenta con ternura los detalles que más le gustaban de cada muñeca que recibió y el sacrificio de su madre para darles ese regalo lleno de amor. Y de la misma manera mis hermanas la recuerdan a ella haciendo muñecas cada noche en secreto para que mis hermanas tuvieran algo la manana de navidad.
Estos valores —el amor, la dedicación y el cuidado por lo hecho a mano— son los que hoy compartimos con Mi Chiquita y como estas muñecas están hechas por nosotras, llevan el mismo cariño y esencia que comenzaron con nuestra abuelita y nuestra madre.
Así, cada Mi Chiquita no es solo un souvenir de Costa Rica: es un legado de amor, un juguete coleccionable nacido de la creatividad y el sacrificio, y una tradición que queremos compartir desde Costa Rica para el mundo.

Crafted with Purpose
Each doll is made using fabric scraps that we get from local seamstresses and other repurposed materials that once served a different purpose. Nothing goes to waste—every tiny piece is used with care and creativity. This conscious approach gives new life to what others might overlook.
A Family of Artists
Every Mi Chiquita is hand-painted by my sister, Fe Virginia, a self-taught artist whose talent feels more like a gift. The dolls are then finished by the Ríos Sisters—Cesilia, Nieves, and Kathia—who inherited a love for sewing, painting, and handmade art from their family.
A Legacy of Love
What makes Mi Chiquita truly special is the tradition she carries. Her origin traces back to our grandmother, Julita Morales, who used leftover fabric to sew dolls for her daughters. She would stay up late at night, stitching in silence while everyone slept, so that each Christmas morning, her girls would find a new doll made with love. Our mother, Catalina Zuniga now 93, still recalls the details of each doll and the sacrifices her mother made to create them.
In the same spirit, our mother continued the tradition—secretly sewing dolls at night so my sisters would wake up to something magical on Christmas morning. These values—love, dedication, and the care behind handmade creations—are what we now share through Mi Chiquita.

Each Mi Chiquita is one-of-a-kind or made in limited quantities. She carries sensitivity, memory, and devotion in every stitch. But above all, she rescues a century-old family tradition. Because she’s made by us, she holds the same love and essence that began with our grandmother and mother.
